Smell collecting

Collecting smells might sound like a strange thing to do, but using your nose is a great way to explore nature. After all, those earthy smells are the essence of the world we all live in. So, we’re going to tell you everything you need to know to start your own smell library in this total sensory experience.

  1. Start by going for a short walk somewhere near your house.
  2. Sniff the air and see if you can pick up on any distinctive smells and start collecting them.
  3. Pick things up like pond water, earth, mud, leaves, fragrant flowers and other plants, and pop them in jars to take home with you.
  4. You can then play a game with all your new smells by closing your eyes and giving each jar a sniff. See if you can tell which scent you’re smelling.
