A different view of trees

Ever wondered what an ant’s journey is like?

Grab a mirror, head off to find a tree you like and sit under it with your back to the tree.

Use your mirror to imagine the journey of an ant: up the tree trunk, along its branches, twigs and onto a leaf at the top of the tree. Then it slowly comes back down the tree along the twigs, branches, trunk and finally down to the ground.

Challenge yourself a little more by exploring the tree with other senses.

  • Draw one of the views from your mirror.
  • Draw or write about the ant's journey.
  • Act out the journey.
  • Investigate whether there are other creatures living in the tree.
  • Would any of them have a very different journey which you could follow with your mirror?
