You might not always be able to see them, but you can always hear them. Birds are the popstars of nature and they want everyone to hear their songs.
Try listening to them sitting up there in the trees. Just sit still in a quiet place for 10 minutes and tune in to the bird chorus right outside your house. Count all the different bird sounds and think about which bird is making each sound. What do you think they’re saying to each other?
You might need to read up first about some fun facts about birds for kids to do this. Try imitating their pips, warbles and chirrups, and join in on the conversation.
f you want to practice you can listen to British bird calls on the BBC R4 website. Thanks to The Wild Network for this activity.
