Mini Wildlife Pond

Mini Wildlife Pond

Become a nature detective with this easy activity. You don’t need a big garden to make a wildlife pond. All you need is a large bucket or an old plastic storage box that’s placed in a safe place and you can create an awesome animal habitat.

  1. To start, buy some native pondweed from a garden centre to keep the water healthy.
  2. Next, add plants, rocks, old bricks and maybe some homemade decorations for your local wildlife to play among.
  3. Make sure the pond is easy to access and is placed in a good spot to catch rainwater.
  4. Be sure to check the pond often to see if it has enough water, pondweed and most of all, lots of exciting wildlife visitors.

Thanks to The Wildlife Trust’s Junior Wildlife Watch website for this activity.
